Twenty out of the 26 households, 2 group leaders and an extension officer working in the village participated in semi-structured interviews (SSI) regarding project activities and its impact on the household incomes. On the average, 20 farmers received only 36.8% of their income from on-farm production, whereas off farm activities contributed 59.6% of their income. However, half of the households had greater on-farm income than off-farm income. The informal education program and the OVPSR project appeared to have...

To increase sugarcane production in present situation of costly chemical fertilizers, it a good nutrient management which is specified to production area is required. Therefore, the response of sugarcane to nutrient management in sandy soil in the Eastern part of Thailand had been investigated. The study aimed to get the most effectively recommendation of fertilizer application for sugarcane grown on sandy soils. The experiment was conducted on Sattahip (Sh) sandy soil, at Muang district, Rayong province. The experimental design was a split-split plot with 3 replications. Main plot was compresed of 2 soil improvements which were 1) without soil amendment, 2) amendment with 100 kg/rai of dolomite and 1,000 kg/rai of filtercake. Sub-plot consisted of 2...

Brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens (Stål), is a major insect pest of rice in Thailand.Because of their ability to adapt to host plant and environment, the BPH becomes an extremely destructive pest and difficult to control. The purpose of this research is to monitor the insecticide resistance of BPH in North Eastern (NE) Thailand. The BPH populations were collected from the outbreak areas in 9provinces during 2011 to 2012. The toxicity (LD50) of 10 insecticides was conducted using Topical bioassay method. The results showed that the BPH populations from 7 provinces were resistant to ethiprole and isoprocarb. The NongBua Lam Phu population was the widest spectrum of resistance to the tested insecticides, whereas, the BPH population from Sisaket was...

การยอมรับของเกษตรกรต่อข้าวนาชลประทานสายพันธุ์ดีเด่นในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ Thai Agricultural
Jongjai Mapakhe.
This study aims to evaluate the farmers' preference to promising irrigated rice lines grown in farmers' fields in north eastern Thailand during wet season 2013. The preference analyses were carried out at 2 stages; at reproductive stage to evaluate for agronomic characteristics, and after harvest to evaluate for grain physical qualities and cooking qualities. Two sets of promising lines were evaluated; glutinous and non-glutinous set. At the reproductive stage, the preference analyses were carried out in 3 provinces. It was found that the glutinous cultivar RD10 and the non-glutinous line KKN01041-23-2-1-1 were the most preferred cultivar/line by farmers. The reasons for their preference were because of the following traits; strong stem, good tillering...
